I have a failover cluster with 2 servers running Windows 2000 Advanced. On this, I have a clustered SQL 2000 installation which, at the moment, is setup to use Windows security only.

I now need to change this to use both Windows security and the SA user. How do I go about making this change, and what affect does it have on the SQL installation ?

Does it drop SQL ?
Does it cause no interruption to service ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

This is an easy change to make.

In Enterprise Manager, right click on the server, click Properties (at the bottom). Select the securuty tab. Set it to Mixed Mode, click ok.

You will need to restart the SQL Service for this change to take effect, so there will be a slight service inturuption.

Since you are on a cluster, I'd recommend clicking no on the prompt to restart, then fail the cluster over to the other node. That way it brings the agent back up gracefully.
