Sql Mail with Lotus notes

Hi,

I am working on a site with 20 sql server 2000 servers and 3 sql server 2005 servers.

the customer uses lotus notes. is it possible to set up sql mail, alerting etc using lotus notes?

Stay clear of sql mail when you have Domino. Remember the rediculous requirements for outlook with SQL 2K. This means you will need to use MAPI or some other odd way of using sql mail with that client.

For you SQL 2K clients use OLE Automation. Basically this will give you the control to use CDOSYS or CDONTS objects to build your notifications.

SQL Server 2005 there is no issues. The mail system has been completely overhauled and is much, much better. It now uses broker and will allow you to use any smtp service.

Read this carefully and mind yourself when it comes to security and managing OLE the right way. It can be deadly if you are careless.
