The scenario is that I installed the SQL server 2000 Standard Edition a few days back with MS
default CD key 1111 1111 1111 1111 , Now I received the Original license key
from Microsoft, I would like to change the old default key with new
authorized key. I can not go for uninstall of the SQL server 2000.
How to Change?

Thanks.

Uninstall and reinstall will be the only way to change it. CD keys aren't storred in there origional form in the registry.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. As long has you have the license handy incase you are audited you should be fine. As far as I know they don't actually check the keys on the servers. They simply check the number of purchased vs. the number of installed.

Hi , very thanks.
Another question, I want upgrade to SP3 SQL Server, this upgrade disable SQL because his product keys is not legal??

Thanks.

It's possible, but it shouldn't cause any problems.

If it does you'll need to uninstall and reinstall SQL.

This is why you are supose to wait until you get the keys before you install.
