SQL Identifier too long

I am using SQL Plus with Oracle 8.1.6. I have created an SQL and get this message when I run it.

ERROR:
ORA-00972: identifier is too long

Any ideas anyone. Learn something new every day *:->*

I recommend posting your question in an Oracle forum rather than the Microsoft SQL Server forum. Terry L. Broadbent
