SQL Drained Resources !

Hi Gurus,,

I use a sql2000/SP2/Win2000 SP2 to copy data from a DB2 mainframe database with MS HIS2000 using APPC transport.
When I execute many queries directly through a linked server as opposed to using OPENQUERY [ i.e. select fields from linkedserver.database.owner.tablename], the linked server becomes virtualloy unusable until I restart SQL. The task manager shows a higher Total/Commit Charge than the total physical memory.

Any comments ...
