SQL Agent - getsetting not working in exe

I have an .exe that runs as step one in my SQL Server Agent job. The .exe uses getsetting to set username, servername, and ... It is not bringing back anything from the registry, why?

The SQLAgent runs in its own set of credentials. It will not have all of the same settings that a Windows login will have. For example, it doesn't logon to Windows so it has no username, no logonserver, no domain, no home drive, no home path, and no temp directory settings. Terry L. Broadbent
