SQL 6.5 - sql 2000 upgrade

Am upgrading sql 6.5 to sql 2000 but i keep on having this error:

CNVPIPE - CAPP::CAPP - COULDN'T CONNECT TO THE EXPORT MACHINE.

I can ping the both servers from each other and i can even them in each others enterprise manager.

All stages of the migration will go through untill it reaches: Export and Import via Named Pipes. I have made sure that the network libraries are all set to named pipe and have even switched them to tcp/ip but still the same.

Please help
