Has anyone ever gotten Connection Encryption working on SQL 2005?

Note that I'm not talking about encrypting data, but encrypting the actual connection from the client to the server over the wire.

We haven't played with it yet. Are you talking the encryption to the Database Engine connection or IS connection or all of the above?

Or are you talking the encryption of the SSIS packages connecting to the Server?

I'm talking about encrypting the connecting from the web server to the database server, so that the network traffic between the web server and the database server can not be sniffed by any one.

Okay. I'll check that out. Let you know what I find out.

Are you using ASP?

Using either the SQL 2000, or SQL 2005 drivers (SQL Native Client).

Denny,

Unfortunately, I just found out that I can't test this and that we don't use it. We have a middle-tier app server which holds all our web related data and then does a nightly sync with our production DB. The web server and the DB server never talk to each other and there are tons of firewalls and a foundry between the two.

Sorry. Wish I could help more, but they won't let me put up a play site to test this. @=/
