Hmm I was just poking around with spybot and I see it has some of the ignored products checked off by default , to be ignored in the scan "my search" was one of them...i dont know about any one here, but my incounters with that have been tedious at best...just thought it might be helpfull.. to disable the setting..

go to advanced mode>settings>ignored products>all products
-make sure all boxes are unchecked marked
-there may be others

specs:
spybot-search n destroy v1.3

I use Spybot 1.2, and none of these seem to be ticked by default, assuming I'm looking in the right pace, of course - I wonder why the programmers decided to do this in the latest version?

Regards, Andy.

Uh I dunno..I have version 1.3..They probally got paid a bit or something hahaha..Love your website...especially the big blue smiley ! hahah cool

I just checked my 1.3 - nothing was checked. Some malware modifies programs to bypass detection. I'd run AdAwareSE at the first chance.

I just checked 1.3 on two PCs and 'my search' was checked on both of them. Strange.

i've found checked ignore stuff twice before. Both occurances were the result of an uninstall/reinstall type update, both were resolved by downloading an install set from a different mirror and doing the update proc again. Figured both were an attempt to open a door by the mirror.

You might want to add your thoughts & observations about these occurances in this thread in the virus/spyware forum:

Thanks, smah. The last post in that thread from Spy-Bot:

"These 4 entries are set to be ignored by default because these products are slowly losing their spyware status. We are considering to remove them from our database completely but want to wait and see how they develop first."

So, this isn't anything to worry about.

Jim

OK, I just re-checked and found it (I was looking for "search"), along with "net.com" and "side step", whatever they are!

i was going to reply - when i visited the site and looked at the "my search" info and noticed it downplaying it's spyware status as mentioned by smah and ANFPS26. I wasn't quite sure what to make of all this, so I held back for awhile. Want to throw out the site above for future reference [smile]
