In our w2k domain, I use Ad-aware, and spybot to keep systems "clean" (only 3-4 systems), but I notice that when these programs find cookies and such, that are "suspect", that theyre always for the local user (administrator), and they never isolate, or locate any other users cookies.

Im wondering if anyone knows if these programs are able to search through everyones cookies, files, and registry entries, and can locate them all...

Because it doesnt make sense to me to have to log in as each user to run the program under their account..since the administrators account has access to their profile folders and all anyway...if I do a file search for any of the keywords in these cookies (like "hotbar") after running the programs that are supposed to get rid of these programs, the search finds all kinds of cookies, folder, files, etc...

Or....is there another program that I can run on our network, that would scan all the clients?

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

If you are not using the registered/paid version of Ad-Aware, then it is only good for one machine per install (and, technically, only supposed to be for home/private use - not businesses). You have to install and run it on each machine individually. At least, this has been my experience.

Here is a funny thing about windows.

Share out the C drive of a computer that is near you. Browse to that C drive and look in the temporary internet files. Now go to that PC physically and sit down and look at the same location. notice that when you are browsing through the network, you are looking at your own temporary internet files, even though the path says its on the other machine.

You can set this application to run and scan as part of a startup group for ALL USERS. Obviously you would have to set AUTORUN, AUTOCLEAN and preferrably RUN WITHOUT USER INTERVENTION. Will these programs run like that? Ask the manufacturer.

We arent a business :)
(but we arent home/private use either)

I do install on each machine, I was just wondering if there was another program that would do the same thing, on a network...or, more specifically, why these programs dont scan "All users", and only scan "current user".
