Well I'm back again for more help.

I acquired 2 switches that are an absolute mess inside. Alarms and Errors going off constantly. I need some help on how to list all the alarms and errors that I currently have so that I can correct them and clear them.

I've been going through my books looking for that particular load (if it exists) that would list them all but I'm having some problems. If any one can help me get started here it would be greatly appreciated.

The version and releases of these swithes are listed below.

Version 2111, Rls. 23, Issue 18+
Version 1411, Rls. 20, Issue 22 # + (I'm assuming the "#" I got was an error.)

Only thing you can do is go to LD 22 and do a PRT type is AHST....Remember to capture this. This gives you a history of everything that has been spit from the TTY.

Hope this helps

Try a complete wipe clean of your cpu's and reinstalling the software/operating system.

Using the Control>B command (ask for more info).

This way any software/programming defects will be gone.

and you will not have a cdb.. i would delete all unused sets, trunks, routes, etc.. clean up ld 90/87/86.. check your patch level, check with nortel about proper issue of all cards.. clear each sch/bug/err one at a time.. wear out the books until it runs hours without a problem..

In the early 1980;s I ran a 2 group VLE with 7 or 8 of the "blue" cabinets. Each base had fans. Switchrrom was behind typical doors in the upper parking level and yes, they resurfaced taking 2 or 3 inches from the 300 space level . I taped the room each night but the 2 month project left a really visible layer on the cards, backplane, etc.

Not that everyone is a genious, but a number of Nortel folks in the wizard department said if I pulled cards out and cleaned things off, the chances of 'more' trouble were likely.'

Some of you will remember either relay contacts or even the G-handset transmitter - clean that damned thing once even with white gloves, and you end up coming back to it monthly..

Thanks for the input folks. I thought about wiping the CPU's clean as suggested by Rinky but, I don't think the software for the switches is even around. So I have to stick with what I got for now.

Trout, 3:09 am. Man either you don't sleep too well at nite or u like your job just alittle to much.... LOL. I had a truck that did the same thing. If you left the dirt and grime on it, it ran fine. Take it through a carwash or change the oil and get ready for problems.

Well I'll probable start this work later on today or tomorrow. I have some other issues that require presidence over this for now. I'll let you all now how I make out.

I have had very good luck with eliminating the mysterious glitches from a lot of equipment by using contact enhancing cleaners (ie; they go conductive under pressure).
CAIG Laboratories makes products called Deoxit and Progold (stocked by MCM and others) which do the job. (these are applied to all connectors, card edges, etc)

It might not hurt to print the results of your midnight routines here on the forum. Most of the people who check this site may have some great insight on the error/bug codes you are getting. Thats what we are here for.
