Hi all.. I am relocating about 8 of my less than stellar employees into a conference room.. let them all see what each other does all day *evil laugh* :) anyway, there are only 3 voice jacks in there... they are cat 5e and the wiring is very new (installed spring 2004). I have an MICS v6 and I'm wondering if it would cause problems to split these jacks in to 3 extensions. I know with data jacks it can cause crosstalk and be detrimental to the signal quality, speed, etc, but has anyone tried this with a Norstar? It will be on a temporary basis so we can probably live with a little line noise... I would like to avoid spending my Friday climbing up in a ceiling :)

Thanks!

I've wired all 4 pair with phones before and have had no issues.

The noise problem I have heard about with AVAYA products ended up being the fact that when the line cord was plugged in it connected a second pair up and that connection caused the noise.

I have also used all the pairings like hawks said. I have used the Suttle SE-173A as a quick splitter for 3 pairs. and have made my own with half a cat5 cable and 4 usoc jacks.

Mind like a Steel trap - Once used forever clamped shut.

Great - that was my plan is to use Cat5 cable and USOC jacks left over from the previous wiring. Thanks as always for the help.

Never had an issue of noise or cross talk with spit cables. I wouldn't split them in the ceiling using b connectors, but at the jack no problem. I've even split Cat5 for voice and data, although I wouldn't recommend it.

Question: What do you call a 4 Pair wire on a Norstar?

Answer: A feeder Cable!

Remember 25 Pr 1A2 sets, 4 pr. Merlins, 3 Pr. SunMoonStars?

We thought single pair P Phones on a SL-100 was a joke till we saw it with our own eyes.
