Spell check halted in Outlook

I had to format my drive and reinstall XP . Ever since I did that the spell check will not work in Outlook. A message box say "Spell check halted do you still want to send message"

any help will be appreciated.

Since the spell checker in Outlook comes from Word have you checked to see if the spell checker is working in Word as well?

Which version of Outlook are you using?

I am using outlook 6.0 and spell check works fine in Word. I am using Word97. Please don't tell me that is the problem. I don't want to upgrade my Office if I don't have to. Should I try an older Explorer version?

Do you mean Outlook Express 6? Here's an article that may help even though it doesn't refer to version 6.
