Have a Speedtouch Alcatel 510 4port adsl Modem hooked up to 2 pc's running XPPro & XPHome. Internet access is okay from either. Have run Network Wizard on both to try and setup as part of network. No luck. Going into the browser interface for the modem reveals that they are both assigned addresses 10.0.0.1 & 2 and the modem is 10.0.0.138. There is only one lan connection in Network Places, should I set up another one and assign "normal" IP addresses through that? Or is anyone familiar enough with the config of this modem to give me settings that will work?

What exactly are you trying to do? Set up file/printer sharing? If so, the ADSL router doesnt have anything to do with that. Make sure you have File/Printer Sharing installed and on, at lease one share on each machine (optional but helpful). both machines must be in the same workgroup.

F/P sharing has little to do with IP and alot to do with NetBios, there for it doesnt care what IP the machines are on. If you just cant see the other machine, try to hard code those IP addresses onto the machines, reboot and go from there. It's a very odd problem, but windows can't keep up with changing IP addresses of a non-windows DHCP server (your alcatel ST or any other home router)
