Speed dial 1

I need to add speed dial to a cics. When using f*1 the number takes , but when I push the associated button it acts like it is dialing the number but it is not making the call?

You should be pushing Feat *1 then the button you want program, then either the line button you want to dial out on and then the phone number, then hold or OK If you dont pick the line button instead you can push I/C then the line pool code {usually 9} and continue to add you phone number then ok.
