It's definitely the speaker, and not something else like the HD, right?
If so, then remove the sound adapter from Device Manager, restart the computer, let Windows recognize it, and reload its drivers.
If no luck, then try different drivers.
If still no good, then it could be defective, there may be a problem with the speaker wires(if it has wires), or there could be a problem with the sound adapter.
