Spam problem

Hi,

I feel like, I have a trojan installed in my W2k box. I ran adaware, quarentined all the pests, ran CA's pest patrol, CWShredder and spybot search and destroy. my system remains ok for few hours( like an hour or so) afterwards, just pop up ads are bursting.

I have to stop few processes, inorder to stop these pests.The processes are not the same. they tend to vary each time. my pest patrol detected few pests like 'people on page', 'IST toolbar' for example. I had downloaded Microsoft Anti spyware beta before, and I had accidentally clicked a link. from that time on I am getting problems. I have uninstalled MS anti spyware now.

Please let me know, what would be the best solution for me to get rid of this trojan.

try running all these apps you have mentioned in Safe Mode to begin with.
it may also be worth you getting HijackThis (

and Mike Lin's Startup (

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml)

and remove anything that's running on startup that shouldn't be.

I've had good luck with the Kaspersky (

http://www.kaspersky.com)

set of security products. They've got 30 day trials for most of their programs, so you can download and try 'em out.

Their AV found a bunch of trojans on my Dads computer that everything else missed.

I try not to let my ignorance prevent me from offering a strong opinion.
