Is the amount of spam you received related to the amount of spyware on your computer?

Everyone seems to be gettn tons of spam around here. I get relatively few junk emails and I run Search&Destroy on my computer about once a week to find the spyware. This seems to be the only thing different I am doing from the others. But I was told spam and spyware are not connected.

Ideas?

Not really. Spyware tracks and reports your surfing habits/patterns. Spam, well, you know...
Spam really seems to be contingent upon how guarded your email address is - i.e. are you posting it our on the web, do you disseminate it freely? - as well as how uncommon it is. By this I mean, "dsmith@aol.com" is probably much more succeptible to spamming than is "xxaescheylus243xx@quickmail.fm."
Many spam engines are set up to rattle off as many random email addresses as possible and saturation bomb mail servers. Hundreds of thousands of spam messages get returned to the original spammer/sender, but if 1% get through, they're getting their job done. You, like me, probably get less than most because you actually use spam filtering and have a less than common email address. Just a guess...
