Just upgraded a W2K system from SP1 to SP4. Now, it hangs up when the monochrome Windows 2000 bar is on the screen...with only the first 1/4" filled in. If I boot in safe mode, it hangs after the WINNT\config\system line. Any suggestions appreciated!! Thanks

Load in safe mode with command prompt if you can and run sfc/scannow from there.

Also might want to run chkdsk /r

electronicsfreak...it just hangs up in the same place (config\system) :(

Your going to have to do a repair install then. Load with your windows disc and reinstall over the os. Sp4 should not have killed it though, thats puzzling. Almost sounds like something interrupted while it was installing.
