SP3 Downloads but won't install 1

SP3 downloads but won't install. I have reinstalled SP3, and windows installer. and ran several regsvr32 .dll files but still no luck installing. I cleaned up temp files and defragged which didn't help either. I renamed software distribution folder to .old and redownloaded SP3 but still won't install. Any other tricks anyone knows about? I do not have any antivirus, or spyware enabled that would effect install...THanks

Microsoft offer free support for this type of problem, it might be worthwhile to take advantage of such an offer?

Is there any Beta SP3 remnants on your machine?

I see you have partly removed programs that might be interfering, so you might as go the whole way and disable everything else which might be a cause too.

Have you looked at any available logs, or do you have any error messages which gives a clue to the problem?

In your Windows folders will be the Service Pack logs which may contain information that might be helpful.
Locate the Windows XP SP3 Setup log files. The Setup program logs information about the Windows XP SP3 installation to the following log files: • Setupapi.log • Svcpack.log.

This will be interesting to you and also lead you in to Slipstreaming Service Packs.
