I have a strange one. I upgraded to Win XP and the sound card will not play music CDs. Everything else works fine. According to the knowledge base at microsoft I need to download and install the media 9 player ... did this... does not work. I have tried to update drivers with no luck etc. Any other suggestions?

Some suggestions

1. Sound options CD Check the volume settings

2. Download winamp and try
3. Reinstall sound Card drivers.

4 open up your computer and make sure the cable from the CD player to the soundcard ( the cd cable) is plugged in.

5. NO idea

"Help others get what they want and you will get what you want"

LOL... did all these. Now, I get static when trying to run a music cd.

Howdy:

When you re-installed the drivers, did you use drivers compatible with XP??

After doing all of the above, check this one:

1. Go to your volume control
2. Go to Options and click Advanced Controls.
3. An Advanced button should have appeared - click it.

In here is there a box called 'Digital Output Only'? If there is and its ticked, untick it.
