I just installed a soundblaster live value into my compy and am trying to install the drivers....I installed the ones from the disk and they have no affect....I install the ones from the website and they make my computer lock up once it is detected...I get a copy off of drivers.com and I still can't get it from locking up...I was able to install a set but it wouldn't let my os boot up on restart...just wondering if anyone could lend a hand
ThanksZ!

you might have a ressource conflict (irq). what os are you using?

unfortunately im using ME, anything I can check out for an IRQ conflict?

run msinfo32.exe (start/run), there go to irq and/or hardware....../...conflict.
if the conflict is only device and acpi irq holder it´s not a prob, but i.e the soundcard will use irg 5, if it´s occupied by anothe device the pc can crash.
did you disable the onboard sound (if present) befor installing the sc?

The soundcard was sitting on IRQ 9, I switched over to five and it still freezes up when I go to get the final part of the driver installed. Windows went to install this driver c:windows/Inf/cmuk101 and the computer locked up....I don't know what else to try thanks for the help so far and if someone could help me out that would be great!

try another slot, agp and nearest pci slot share often an irq and not all pci slot´s are busmaster capable (check mb manual). retry the original drivers (make sure all "dead" drivers are deleted, check windows/inf/other and delete the traces from previous installations) and make sure windows chooses the ones for me (sometimes it tries to install w2k/xp wdm drivers, but they are not compatible).
are you sure the sc works?

Yeah I've tried the soundcard in another computer....same problem...but I didn't quite understand how I dead soundcard would make the computer freeze when trying to install drivers....that's all
Thanks for the help so far!
