Wave files are stuttering quite badly on my computer i just installed windows 2000, I have every update from windows update and latest drivers for my soundcard, video etc. I had no problems with windows 98 before i reinstalled.

windows reports no problems, video and cd audio plays fine is just seems to be mp3's / wave files and the like on the hard drive that have the problem. I tried all the files playing on another computer and they play fine so there is no problem with the files being corrupted.

Any suggestions because i am out of ideas thanks.

Sounds like a windows 2000 problem. There is a forum here for that forum616

Right-click My Computer and select Properties.

Click the Hardware tab then Device Manager.

Double-click the IDE ATA/ATAPI line and then double click Primary IDE Channel. Click the Advanced Settings tab.

Make sure the Transfer mode is set to DMA if Available.

Do this with the Secondary IDE Channel also.
