I have downloaded two files using the info. on M6TWG system board from Biostar. They are for the Codec driver and hardware sound driver. The description is as follows:
1. Analog SoundMax AD1881 AC97 Codec driver.
2. Aureal AU8810 Hardware Sound driver.
I would like to know if both these files are to be installed on items in the Device Manager. If so, could you please let me know which ones. Are they from the following:
1. a)PCI Multimedia Audio device ( is identified as an unknown device and has a yellow question mark)
b)Unknown device with a question mark.
2. Wave Device for Voice modem ( has a yellow exclamation mark next to it)
The generic drivers are loaded on to these items each time I turn the PC on even after I try to remove the driver since they don't allow installation of the downloaded files. They don't work (generic drivers).
Any ideas/suggestions to rsolve this problem are welcome.
I'm glad to inform you that the display problem was resolved by downloading and installing the On Board VGA driver.

Usually the sound drivers come with a setup or install file that you just run and it will install all the necessary drivers for you.

Have you tried running the executable files that came with the drivers you downloaded?
