Hello,

I am relatively new to DV video capture and editing and am having a problem that I hope someone can help with.
I can capture DV from my Canon DV camera just fine in Premier v6. I can then edit the file just fine. The problem comss when I try to create an AVI from the timeline. When I export the file, only the video exports. There is no audio with the file. The options that would normally allow you to change the settings on the audio are "grayed out" -- and I know this should probably be a clue. I have been careful not to mute the audio in the timeline.

In case this is related: My computer is new and I have noticed that there are some types of AVI files that I can not play. (I haven't downloaded any 3rd party DIVX files.)

Has anybody experienced this problem? And if so, how do I fix it?

Could be a codec issue. What is grayed out exactly? What export option are you choosing? Try File>>Export>>Audio and Click Settings to change the file type to Windows Waveform. This should save the audio as a wav file which should definitely play as long as Premiere's settings are correct. You said you were careful not to mute the audio so you do see the horn picture in the first box of the Audio 1 track right?

You may have already tried this, but under your export settings, make sure that multiplexing is enabled. This should allow you access to the audio settings as well as video settings.
