My sound Icon load intermitently when I fire up. Does any one know if there is a registry entry that loads that icon in the tray. I can make it load if I go to the control panel and uncheck show icon click apply, recheck click apply. It will then appear in the tray.

Where does it load at startup. Please help.....

Some leads for you.

Volume Icon does not load
thread779-904346

I have followed the instructions in Bill's post (and from the Microsoft KB article Q319095

However when I try to expand the sndvol32.ex file I get an error message - Can't open input file sndvol32.ex.

I'm using a full retail version of XP. Any ideas why I'm getting the error message?

When you look into these eyes, I hope you realise, they could never be blue.

expand drive_letter_of_cd_drive:\i386\sndvol32.ex_ %windir%\system32\sndvol32.exe

(Note the underscore character).

Thanks Bill, that sorted it
