Sound Drivers work off and on .

Hi.
I am having problems with the Sound Drivers on a
Pen 2 running windows 98 se. I would install the latest sound Drivers and it will word fine for some time .When i shut the Computer down and restart hours after or the next Day the Computer searches again for new Hardware ,also when i check the Device Manager it's not there but it still shows in Add/Remove .I am sure I can get some expert advice from you Guys .

Where did you get the "latest sound drivers"? I've had many Windows "updates" that were faulty. Do you have the original drivers to try?

I installed a new sound card with the orignal drivers .
now i am having this problem and can,t figure out why.

Confused! Did this problem start with the new sound card? You say you have the "latest" drivers, then you say it's a "new" sound card with original drivers. Why did you replace the sound card? Need step-by-step details from start of any sound problems.
