Hello,

I have a Win 2k3 Terminal Server - I am using Wyse 1125SE terminals to connect to the server. I have sound mapping enabled and it works fine until the Wyse terminals are rebooted. When this happens the server's sound settings reset to 50% which is not loud enough for the speakers on the Wyse terminal to work. If the users logs out and logs in the sound stays at 100%. Any idea what would cause the sound setting on the server to revert back to 50%?

In order to fix this problem I have to log in as an admin and reset the servers sound setting back to 100% and log out again. Then the Wyse terminals can log on with sound. I have to do this with each terminal.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I don't know for certain but I believe you will find the settings for the session sound level in the registry. You might be able to script setting the volume.

To prevent the problem, I would make sure you have the latest audio drivers installed.

I hope you find this post helpful.

The server doesn't require a sound driver as the Wyse terminal provide the drivers and the sound the RDP client is setup to "bring sound to computer" Thus there is no driver to upgrade. Any idea where the sound registry setting is?

thanks

The server would have to have a sound driver of some sort loaded. After all, it is being redirected to the RDP client. If the server has no driver whatsoever then I believe that the sounds cannot be reidrected. As I don't have access to systems to test this out on I can't say for certain but I believe that is correct.

I would try searching the registry for the machine name that you RDP to to see if there is or is not a registry setting. Or perhaps use a program like RegSnap to compare a before and after snapshot to see what is different.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
