Sorting Problem

I am having difficulty getting my Access Query to sort numbers properly. Here is a sample.

1170
120
1215
1370
1370
1463
172
1734
1764
1972

How do I fix this? I have tried moving this column to the first position, with sort ascending on, to no avail.

Seems that the field is not numeric but text.
ORDER BY Val(YourField)

PHV, Thanks for the help. Applying Val( ) has fixed the problem.

Another way around the problem is to add leading zeroes to the numbers so that 0120 comes before 1170.
