Hello,

My Sorting and Grouping window in reports design doesn't Pop up. I tried going to View->Sorting and Grouping. Also i tried Clicking the Tool Button. No error messages and nothing. This problem arises only in my machine. I was getting it correctly till yesterday. Did i accidently set any properties of my MS Access? The sorting and grouping window Pops up for the same database and for the same report when i use another user's machine. Please help.

Regards and Thanks

Charley

Charley, I also have had and now have this problem as well. The first time this occurred, our IS folks were able to reinstall Access 97 and the problem was fixed. The second time it occurred, they had to remove my entire Microsoft Office 97 and the associated registry files. I'm scared to think what they might have to do this time. I noticed that this problem popped up after Access locked up during the creation of a new report using the report wizard. I was also wondering if there was a setting that I could easily reset to get this feature to return.

Don

Search the following Article ID IN Microsoft. It describes the Steps to edit the registry and solves the problem in 1 minute. (It is very easy if you copy and pase the SGST value from another users Machine)

Article ID-Q200412

Regards

Charley Thomas

Charley, thanks for the tip. I also found an alternate way for accomplishing the same thing. It appears that the Sorting and Grouping box is still there, it is just so far off the screen that we can't see it (another little Access bug). Although this example is for the Sorting and Grouping pop-up window, it also applies to other Access pop-up windows as well.

Open your report in design mode. Select View from the menu. Make sure the Sorting and Grouping button looks pressed. If not, click it to open the Sorting and Grouping box. If you still cannot see it, press ALT SPACE, release the SPACE bar and then while still holding the ALT key down, press M. This will allow you to use the arrow keys to move the property box to a place where you can see it.

I tried this approach this morning and it worked.

Thanks again for the tip.

Don
