Using CE9, I have created labels that contain the following work order numbers.

I need the labels to sort by work order number, but the sort is coming out looking like:

729R-1
729R-10
729R-100
729R-209
729R-21
729R-210
729R-218

I am trying to achieve a result like:

729R1
729R2
729R3
729R10
729R11

I received help on this issue using Excel where I padded the numbers, but now I need to accomplish the same in CE9.

I am thinking I can create a suppressed formula field that pads the numbers and then sort on it.

Any suggestions?

Try the following formula for your sort field, while displaying your actual field in the report:

left({table.string},4)+totext(val(mid({table.string,5)),"000")

//assuming the numbers on the right are no greater than 999
