I am looking for a replacement CDR-RW drive for the forementioned model PC. Its not your typical style of drive(Face shape, color etc), nor is the system supported by SONY anymore, but I managed to locate a user manual;doesnt say much though.

It seems this drive was specific for this model.
Any advice on finding the replacment, and your thoughts would be great.

Hello Cablepuller,
Have you pulled the drive to see if the face plate and tray cover can be removed to fit any standard drive?

I have not...Im working strictly on appearance. This was brought to my attention off-site.Apparently the tray will not open(I had them try everything to open it except Safe Mode so far, there challenged).I will be opening the box next time im there.Good advice on the Faceplate.Ill look into that as well.

Cheers.

There should be a small emergency eject hole on the front of the drive. Straigtening a paper clip and sticking it in the hole and pushing should trip the release and open the tray slightly so one can pull it open the rest of the way with fingers. Unfortunately not all drives have this though.

This happens to be one of those drives.Thanks.
