Sony centrino 1.7Ghz on mains power /on battery 593Mhz?

Hi

Have recently bought a sony centrino...problem is on mains power it runs full speed 1.7.

But on battery power it only runs on around 593 mhz.

Thats with the power saving/power management disabled.

Is this normal...?

Is there any way to get full speed on battery power...?

I know that Laptops prefer to reduce CPU Speed rather than increase Fan Speed to reduce heat so as not to waste Battery Power.

Check your settings. You can normally turn this feature off, or choose from "Long Life" or "Maximum Performance" for Battery Power Mode.
