Keeping with formalities, My operating system on the master drive of the primary IDE slot. My data, however, is stored on the slave drive of the same slot. (I have a CD-Rom and CD-RW connected to the secondary slot.) I am running Windows 2000 Pro.
Last month, my wife was working on MS Access and suddenly she gets a blue screen of death. I discovered that the data hard is barely limping. I managed to pull some data and transfered it to a new one.
Yesterday, I'm on the web. My system stops responding. I get a blue screen (sorry - no details) and . . . wouldn't you know it . . . my data drive has been shot dead!
Are we talking a Windows 2k error? Motherboard error? Power supply error?
I have a PIII 600 mhz system with 256mb of ram. GeForce 256 video card (cooling fan was slow until I cleaned it last night) and SB Live Value sound card. I have adaptec Easy CD Creator 3.5b. As far as I can tell, none of that program was running in the background.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Could have been a heat issue if one of your fans was not functioning properly, could be not enough power from your PSupply. You should prob have at least 200 watt. Could be you just got a bad drive for a replacement.
