Hi, - Running XP home on a duel boot. Each time I boot to "D" drive where I have XP installed I get the following message with the arrow pointing to the task bar. The message is saying, - - Devices or applications disabled. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading. Click here for more details.

Okay, I realised that win on CD was the culprit so I uninstalled it and put Nero on instead. I have used Nero and all is okay with it.

Question is, - How do I get rid of this reminder each time I boot.

Thanks guys - Mel in the UK

Ok. This should get rid of all balloons that would appear:

[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: EnableBalloonTips
Setting for Value Data: [0 = Balloon Tips Disabled / 1 = Balloon Tips Enabled]
Exit Registry and Reboot

But Take a peek here to see what's causing the problem. I doubt that clonecd was causing the problemif your still receiving the error message.

Hi Craigey - I followed your instructions starting with start-run-regedit.
I got all the way to explorer\advance and when clicking advance could not see the next step - example Modify/create?????????????????????????

Any other suggestion please.

To add a value. From Help in Regedit.

Open Registry Editor.

Right Click the key or entry where you want to add the new value.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click the type of value you want to add: String Value, Binary Value, DWORD Value, Multi-String Value, or Expandable String Value.
Type a name for the new value, then press ENTER.

To change or create data for the new value.

Right click the value you want to change.

On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In Value data, type the new data for the value, and then click OK.

Before you do anything Backup the Registry Key you are changing (use the export option to do this).

Use Device Manager to uninstall the problematic device.

Hi bcastner: - I went into device manager and there is nothing showing with a yellow exclamation mark better known as a flag. I think now it has something to do with easy creator but I burned a cd only 2 hours a go using NERO and all was okay. Its just damned annoying that this reminder thing comes up on every boot.
