I wanted to change my ringing sound heard by callers to two ring cycle instead of the plain single ring cycle. I have CM 2.2 and was able to do it.

Not only did I change the style of the ring, but I also made the ring sound a little bit lower, closer to the British variant.

Here's what I did:

CHange TONe-generation 1

<F7> to tab 2

Tone Name
=========
ringback

Cadence Step / Tone / Duration
==============================

1 404+450/-11.0 1000
2 silence 250
3 404+450/-11.0 1000
4 silence 3200
5 goto 1

Note, if you prefer the American sound, change 404+450/-11.0 to 440+480/-13.0.

Cheers,
Bill

Another cool sound is 404+425/-11.0

Can this be applied to certain phones or is it global?

Thanks,
CJH

once you change tone-generation how do you enable the ringtone you have created?

it's automatic -- if you look at locations 1, it shows that it is using tone generation plan 1. in other words, you are making the changes in real-time.
