Some Advice

I would like to get certified in Checkpoint, and would like to purchase a nokia hardware firewall for study, but am worried about the licensing issue (limited budget).

Is there a hardware firewall that comes with a small amount of licenses preinstalled or one that doesn't need licensing at all maybe?

as far as installing checkpoint licences are concerned if you can get hold of an eval of checkpoint you will have 15 days usage without requiring a licence but this doesnt install on a nokia (does clean install on pc secureplatform OS included on cd).
you may find dificulty in getting hold of a version to install on the nokia as the only place i know to get checkpoint for nokia is via the CP website. I am not sure if you can download without a valid product id to register (try and find out)
if you can you should get 15 days on the nokia before having to reinstall.

Regarding the software version, would it cover the exam stuff, if installed on a linux platform?

The actual Checkpoint software is the same, regardless of the platform. The exams cover the configuration of the Checkpoint software itself.
