Hi Outlook users,

This problem concerned using Outlook 2000 on a SQL Server 2000 server.

We had been fighting a wicked problem on our SQL Server 2000 machine. We could not send email - whether we opened up Outlook 2000 and sent an email "manually" OR whether we sent an automated email thru SQL Agent / xp_sendmail .... it always failed or sometimes it hung.

2 error messages we received:
- "No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient"

- "host mail.acbcoop.com was not found"

I went round 'n round on this problem.. checking that the correct services were running, reconfiguring the mail settings and profiles.

All along, the cause was that Microsoft Proxy Client 2.0 had not been installed on this server. After we installed
Microsoft Proxy Client and rebooted, the problem was solved
and outlook email worked.

Many things can cause this error message. But in all the reading I did about this problem, nothing mentioned that the Proxy Client tool had to be installed.

Maybe this will help someone else.

John
