solaris pkgadd preinstall script fails, but pkginfo shows the pkg!

Hi,
I'm to writing an installer that uses pkgadd
on solaris (both on intel and sparcs), and when
my preinstall script fails (as it should when other
necessary packages are not installed), the pkg still shows
up in pkginfo. (It shouldn't!) Does anyone know if
there is a workaround or a patch for this? I'd really
appreciate any help!!
