Hi,

I recently got Solaris 10 x86 and it seemed to ignore most of the hardware setting the installation routine piched up a boot time. I have resolved the screen resolution problem by using xorgconfig. But I can't figure out how to get the ethernet adaptor recognised. Is there a hardware scanning routine I can use to pick it up? Does anyone know what are the options to the b command on bootup?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Tony McGuinness

Looks like it's not picking up the driver or you don't have a proper driver for it. Some open boot commands would be 'probe-scsi-all' and 'probe-ide-all' depending on which bus it is sitting on. What is the model of your NIC?

Thsnks twantrd,

I got it sort of going in the meantime but Java Desktop System on a remote xserver is very slow and it hangs the interface. Also I have to have the IP in hostname.fets0.
It won't bring up the interface if the hostname is in there. There is an entry in hosts for the hostname and an entry in netmasks.

hosts:
192.168.0.2 marx1

netmasks:
192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0

The ethernet adaptor is a VIA Rhine II adaptor and I am using the Solaris 8/9 driver for it.

Regards,

Tony
