I have a client and server application that I plan on releasing next quarter. I have never had to deal with the licensing part of the software, and would like to install some sort of registration that will allow the software to run in a "DEMO" mode for a period of time and then, when a license is purchased allow the software to run in "FULL" mode.

I am thinking of putting this code into the Server part so I can allow x number of clients to be connected at anytime and refuse any clients over the amount of clients the agency purchased.

Is there a solution that is available either in public domain or freeware?

are there companies that can provide me with this kind of licensing, if so do they deal with .net applications? Please recommend some of these companies.

Check out this awsome .Net Resource!

You could create your own demo version of the application that only has limited features, or a demo version that will only work when a connection is made to your server (this way you could control when the demo expires).

I guess most "trial" applications work by storing something locally on the PC as to when the trial started and then checks if that trial period has expired or not. That probably isn't that secure as someone can potentially hack the trial start date.
