Is there any "SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY" enabled via Group Policy on your machine?

Are you installing it while logged on as an Administrator?

Have you any contact with "avaya" to see what they say?

Could also be some A/V A/S or software monitoring software, such as LanDesk etc.

Only the truly stupid believe they know everything.

hello

thanks for the reply.

I checked software restriction policy. its all blank.

a telephone guy tried to install that software for the whole day, no luck.

how do I get around this problem?

thanks and regards,

Mike

I checked software restriction policy. its all blank.

Are you on a domain? Where and how did you check this setting? Did you just type gpedit.msc on the local computer you are trying to install the software on and check the setting there? If so, it most likely will be blank. You would need to check this policy setting on the DC that is controlling the group policy for the domain or run a resultant set of policy (Start> Run> type rsop.msc) on the local computer and see what domain policies are effecting it. Also, as linney said, are you indeed installing this software under an account that has administrative rights to install the software? Have you tried installing the software on another computer to see if the results will be different?

If this is a standalone machine with no Domain connection, try this.

How To Reset Security Settings Back to the Defaults

I'm intrigued about this program uninstalling itself after a successful install, how does that manifest itself on your machine? Do you see any messages or reasons for the self-uninstall?

What if anything is in the Event Viewer?

hi guys,

many thanks for the replies.

there was an error in the event log.

I tried reset local group policy. no luck, some registry keys have errors.

ah, well, I formatted hard drive, and reinstalled XP from scratch.

regards
