First, please excuse my ignorance, but I am need to video capturing/editing. I have an extensive number of VHS tapes (home movies) going all the way back to 1972. My goal is to convert the tapes to DVD.

There are numerous products on the market and I have spent quite a few hours (100+) researching.

I would appreciate any assistance in trying to determine what I should use for capturing the VHS and what editing software is best.

I am willing to spend up to $2000 for everything.

Also, what would be the PC requirements to ensure everything works ok?

BTW, I tried Pinnace AV Studio last fall and was not satisfied with the results.
