I'm running SMS 2.0 SP3 on Win2k. Recently the server has stopped distributing software. It's showing the adverts as being recieved but no failures, programs started. It has managed to install 1 package of 750 in 3 days!
The server is dual processor, has 4gb of memory & bags of disk space - any ideas?

Thanks

I would check the logs for any error messages on the sms server. Create a test package and target a few pc's to see if they can receive the package. Also, check the clients machines logs for any error messages. Are your SW and HW inventories working? The only time I have experienced packages not delivering was when I rebuilt the server using a new site code. The clients were discoved under the new site code but were still assigned with the old one. If this is your situation, I have a script that will delete the old site code. Also, make sure all your components are running and check your CAPS also. Have you rebooted the SMS server?

Also look at the replication of the package to distribution points. If one of your DPs has not fully replicated the package, the system clogs. Check by reviewing the: site database -> system status -> package status -> your package to check to see if the right pane shows successful installation on your DPs. Also check the sms_distribution_manager status to see if anything failed.

Good Luck
