Software Distribution 4.0, SP Editor on End Points

HI,

A couple of weeks back i had reported a question about the Autopack in SWD 4.0. i got the solution although it is still a tip but i guess it will help to all of those who are in the process of SWD 4.0 evaluation.


in the new SWD 4.0 the endpoint portion and Managed node ortion of the software packaage editor is different and has to be loaded separately thru totally different process. Managed node SPE is loaded with the SWD installation and EP SPE has to be first imported in the managed node SPE and then installed on the EP.
Take care that during the installation of the SWD 4.0 donot install the Software package editor(SPE) if the TMR, managed node and the EP of the test machine is one machine only. THE SPE is installed on the Endpoint machine thru the software distribution profile only.
i am in the process of writing a deailed procedure on this and will submit it in the forum ina few days or so..

quite complicated in the first see yet convenient.
