I just replaced a broken old SOE 3.0 with An IP500 V2 running 8.0.44. On board is a DIGSTA8/BRI8 and Phone8. Nice easy install.
However the customer assures me that the SOE used to have a feature where, if another extn in the office was ringing, and that extn was programmed to a button on a 5410 phone as a user, the person on the 5410 could push the associated button and view incoming caller Id info for that call before picking it up.
ON R8 it now only gives the option for direct pick up with no caller ID.
I must admit to being completely unaware of this feature and unsure if it has just dropped off the latest software releases.
They were not using bridged or coverage
Any SOE experts out there know if this was a feature?
This is not of vital importance, I'm just curious.

Not an SOE feature but I think it was a feature of earlier firmware, it's one of a few nice features that have fell by the wayside :)

Thought as much.

Shame as it looked like a useful feature. Customer not so happy their new and improved IP500 cannot do what their old broken down SOE could.

Go to system -> Telephony and check the option DSS status

Code:
· DSS Status: Default = Off
This setting affects Avaya display phones with programmable buttons. It controls whether pressing a DSS key set to another user who has a call ringing will display details of the caller. When off, no caller information is displayed.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

So it does, perhaps I am thinking of the group button then, I am sure one of them doesn't display the info anymore :)

The group button could show queue details in the past and if there were several calls in the queue then by pressing the button again you could select a specific waiting call and retrieve it from te queue.
Don't remember when it went away but it was a good feature...

If it ain't dutch it ain't much

Great! Thanks tlpeter, have a star and next time I may try to RTFM
