Socket Error

When I do ipconfig /renew. I get this "The following error occured when renewing adapter Local Area connection: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket"

Tried to reinstall the TCP/IP protocol but that does not help. This particular machine for some reason just can't find the DHCP server.

Any suggestion (apart from reinstalling the OS) are appreciated.

I fixed my own problem. Posting the resolution if this will help someone else with the same issue.

Delete registry keys
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2

Select the network connection and remove TCP/IP
Reboot

Resinstall TCP/IP for the network connection
Reboot
