Socket error from MySQLGUI

I have MySQL 3.22.32 installed and working on an Intel with Red Hat 6.0. But I have also installed MySQLGUI, version 1.7.<br><br>When I run MySQLGUI I get the following error message:<br><br>&quot;Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)&quot; <br><br>I've seen this error, and a variant, mentioned here. But I get this error, only with MySQLGUI, and from an installation of MySQL that works! Seems like this would be easy to fix, but I haven't discovered how to do it.
