Hi,

We have a Windows 2003 print server which hosts several printers which are separated by a firewall. The firewall blocks SNMP traffic. I want to disable SNMP on the printers to prevent this traffic from occuring.

In the properties of the printer I have the option to disable SNMP via a tick box.

Question: If I disable SNMP on the printer, what impact will this have? Will I lose any functionality?

Thanks,

Cam

No it shouldn't affect your printers at all. As long as you have the TCP/IP protocol enabled, disabling SNMP should make no difference at all.

SNMP is a monitoring protocol.
