I have a Compaq laptop with an IBM Auto 16/4 Token Ring Credit Card PCMCIA Adapter installed. I would like to use Sniffer Pro 3.5 on token ring networks to capture traffic.
However, when I switch to the adapter and choose SELECT SETTINGS and LOG on, I get the following message:
Sniffer failed to open the selected adapter.
This may be a result of:
1. Agent connection attemped; cancelled by user.
2. User failed to enter correct password.
3. The agent has reached its limit for the number of Host Connections.
This may also be caused by one of the following conditions:
1. The adapter driver is installed more than once.
2. The previously selected PCMCIA adapter has been removed.
3. The Token Ring adapter cable may not be connected to a MAU or token ring hub.
Click on OK to select another adapter.
Has anyone else had this problem? Anything I can do? My token ring adapter definitely works as I'm using it right now to connect to this post.
Thanks in advance for any and all help and suggestions.
